Callao City Lights is the company that manages the emblematic Callao Cinemas, where the most relevant film premieres and events in Madrid take place. Callao City Lights is also one of the most representative places for large format digital outdoor advertising.
We offer you a multipurpose venue to personalise according to your event’s requirements. As an added value, we offer you the possibility of having the Plaza del Callao as a prelude to the action, and dressing the building with your brand name. We are also pioneers in large format digital outdoor advertising in urban centres. We have two giant digital screens (102 m² and 130 m²), in the most visited square in Spain (150 million people per year) and the third one most frequented in Europe. Our platforms are equipped with the latest technology (3D, augmented reality, interactivity, synchronisation, live broadcasts, retargeting mobile…) and have an unprecedented image quality.
ADVERTISING SCREENS
The Callao Cinemas are pioneers in large format digital outdoor advertising in city centres, thanks to the 2 giant screens located on the facades of the building from 2011. These supports were renovated in 2019 to place us, once again, at the technological innovation forefront.
EVENTS
The Cines Callao are also a privileged place for the celebration and organization of all kinds of events (presentations, press conferences, awards ceremonies, fashion shows, parties, corporate dinners, etc.). Due to its modern and versatile facilities with the latest technology in sound, image and lighting.
CINEMA AND FILM PREMIERES
The latest releases and the best cinema listings. Located in the Plaza del Callao, the heart of Madrid, Callao Cinemas are a reference point in the celebration of cinematographic events. The biggest national and international cinema stars of the last decades have walked on its red carpet.
A CINEMA HISTORY
Built in 1926 by Luis Gutiérrez Soto, the historic building of Callao Cinemas is the highest example of the capital’s Art Deco architecture. It was launched as a cinema on December 11th of the same year, with the film ‘Luis Candelas, el bandido de Madrid’.

Luis Gutiérrez Soto designs the historic building of Callao Cinemas, the maximum art déco exponent architecture in the capital.
1926
1926
It opened as a cinema on 11 December of the same year, with the film ‘Luis Candelas, el bandido de Madrid’.
1929
The first cinema in Spain to show a sound and spoken film, ‘El cantor de jazz’, on the 13th of June 1929.
1930
The pioneers to show the first film shot in Spanish in Hollywood, ‘El cuerpo del delito’.
1935
The first ones to release a colour film, ‘Becky Sharp’.
1952
And the first ones to show a 3D film (in relief), ‘Bwana, Devil’.
1980
The cinema opens on its underground floor the famous Xenon night club.
1998
Callao Cinemas’ Room 2 inauguration.
2011
Two large-format digital screens replace the old outdoor cinema posters that advertised the films.
2017
We launched our Augmented Reality platform. The most advanced one in the market.
2019
We renew our outdoor advertising displays with the latest LED technology generation.
2020
The 3D technology arrives to our outdoor screens. A technological innovation for the DOOH never seen before in Spain.
2022
It presents Circuito Gran Vía, the largest large format digital circuit in urban environments in Spain (15 large format digital screens and a surface area of 460m²), with 4 key locations in the centre of Madrid: the Callao Cinemas and the Coliseum, Lope de Vega and Rialto theatres.
