TELEMADRID REPORTS ON THE BIGGEST RENOVATION IN THE HISTORY OF THE CALLAO CINEMAS

Two years away from its centenary, Cines Callao has made renovations to its façade with lighter tones, but also improvements to its interior. Sergio, director of events, and his team have been working for four months.

“We have made an army of improvements precisely to try to improve the experience of the customers we have, starting with the complete reupholstering of the seats. Not only that, but also the installation of the LED guides that are fully recessed in the floor and that allow us to help evacuate in case of emergency”.

But that’s not all, “we have carried out an acoustic study that has improved performance by 40%, making the films and events held here much better to listen to. What we have also done is to restore the interior woodwork and the entire exterior has been completely refurbished and restored”.

The cinemas are reinventing themselves to hold events. “We are lucky enough at Cines Callao to be able to dismantle the seats a la carte and hold a cocktail area in the same space, which allows us to have a space of 433 square metres to create whatever madness any creative agency can come up with”.

Videomapping is its star dish. “Cines Callao is committed to a new extended projection system that goes outside the screen”. A cinema where the first talking and sound film was shown in Spain and also the first colour film. A century later, it continues to write its own history.
