GRAN VÍA CIRCUIT PROMOTES “EXPERIENCE MACAO”: CHINESE CULTURE, CUISINE AND TRADITION WITHOUT LEAVING MADRID

The 15 screens of the Gran Vía Circuit are presenting “Experience Macao”, an initiative that aims to bring the culture, cuisine and traditions of the Chinese region of Macao to Madrid, offering an immersive experience without leaving the city. The event will take place in the Puente del Rey area from 17 to 21 April. For five days, the capital will become the setting for a sensory journey that will reveal the new image of Macao, a meeting point between East and West, with a rich historical heritage and unique architecture.

THE SCREENS AT THE CINEMAS IN CALLAO AND AT THE LOPE DE VEGA AND COLISEUM THEATERS ARE TURNING OFF FOR THE PLANET

Once again this year, we have joined WWF’s Earth Hour initiative, which aims to raise awareness about the importance of caring for the environment by turning off our screens for one hour.

On this occasion, the screens at Cines Callao and those at the Lope de Vega and Coliseum theaters went dark on Saturday, March 28, from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., following a countdown that could be seen at Callao.

In addition, in the days leading up to this event, the campaign created by WWF to encourage people around the world to join the cause was displayed on these screens.

Earth Hour, the largest global initiative in defense of the environment, gives us the opportunity to demonstrate our concern for the planet and improve our lives by joining this initiative.

Callao City Lights was one of the sponsors of MADO Madrid Pride this year.

At the MADO 2025 Awards, presented last Thursday as part of the official Madrid Pride programme, we met the winners: the Lambda Valencia Collective, actress Cayetana Guillén Cuervo, artist and activist Samantha Hudson and, in memoriam, Pedro Zerolo.

Created in 2009, these awards aim to recognise and highlight the work of individuals, organisations, groups, activists and institutions – public or private – that have made an outstanding contribution to the advancement, defence and visibility of the rights of LGTBIQ+ people.

MADO Madrid Pride 2025 will be held for 11 days, from 26 June to 6 July, with an extensive programme of events, activities, celebrations and concerts.

CALLAO CITY LIGHTS JOINS WWF EARTH HOUR 2025

In support of WWF‘s Earth Hour initiative, which aims to raise awareness of the importance of caring for the environment, Callao City Lights will once again turn off its screens for one hour. As in other emblematic buildings around the world, the Callao Cinemas will switch off at 8.30 p.m. on March 22. In our case, after displaying a countdown on the screen.

In addition, in the days leading up to this action, Callao City Lights will be showing the campaign created by WWF to encourage citizens around the world to join the cause. The action can be seen from March 17 to 22 on the outdoor screens of Callao Cinemas.

Earth Hour, the largest global initiative in defense of the environment, gives us the opportunity to show our concern for the planet and improve our lives by joining this initiative.

JOVIAL PREMIERE OF ‘RADIOGRAFÍAS’ AT CINES CALLAO

A jovial atmosphere and a large audience at the premiere of ‘Radiografías’, a short film starring a group of children in Neurology at the Niño Jesús Children’s Hospital, their parents, doctors, actors and actresses. A project of the theatre laboratory Yo cuento in which real stories that have happened in the hospital are told: pizza Tuesdays, Doctor Cuack, Curro’s jokes and even a ghost nun. It was a great event for the main protagonists, the children, who with great joy and excitement arrived at the cinema in several limousines and posed at the photocall set up at the entrance, as if they were real stars of the celluloid.

The event also included the screening of a documentary about how the idea of filming ‘Radiografías’ was born and ended with a small musical performance to which the whole audience joined in, singing and dancing to the music.

Yo cuento is a theatre laboratory of the Hospital Infantil del Niño Jesús and 33% Cultura sin límites that aims to show society that children with neurological diseases also count.

Directed by Adán Aliaga, ‘Radiografías’ has the support of Netflix and the collaboration of Fundación La Caixa and Jazzpharma, among other entities.

CALLAO CITY LIGHTS, ONE MORE YEAR WITH EARTH HOUR

 

We are once again joining Earth Hour, the largest global initiative in defence of the environment promoted by WWF. Like other emblematic buildings around the world, the Callao Cinemas will switch off its exterior screens on Saturday 23 March for one hour, from 20:30 to 21:30, after a countdown synchronised with the rest of the countries. And from Monday 18th until that same Saturday, we will broadcast the WWF campaign created to invite the population to join the initiative, in solidarity with nature and to fight against climate change.

Likewise, seconds before the blackout, we will broadcast a countdown to synchronise with the rest of the buildings and places in the world that collaborate with Earth Hour.

The campaign that will be broadcast until then will invite citizens to connect with Nature and move for the Planet, adding KMPORELPLANETA, as a symbolic challenge, with the aim of surpassing, before 25 March, the 7 laps of the Planet achieved last year in the first edition of this movement.

CALLAO CITY LIGHTS WITH EARTH HOUR

Citizens and organisations will be able to add up kilometres through the WWF Spain website.

CALLAO CITY LIGHTS BROADCASTS LIVE THE CONCERT ‘SAVE UKRAINE: #STOPWAR’

Held in Warsaw, this charity event was broadcast in more than 20 countries and was attended by artists and personalities, including the president of Ukraine.

Hundreds of people, including a representation of the Ukrainian embassy in our country, came to the Plaza del Callao to enjoy this broadcast on the outdoor screens of the Callao Cinemas, the only ones that echoed this event throughout Spain broadcast on RTVE Play.

An event that included messages from the President of Ukraine, Volodymir Zelenski, and other personalities, such as the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, or the Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, and in which more than 50 guest artists participated, including Ukrainian names such as Jamala and Go-A, representatives of the country at Eurovision in 2016 and 2021, respectively, along with other artists of international stature, such as Sting, who performed his famous 1985 song ‘Russians’.

The telecast also featured music videos from artists such as Imagine Dragons, Nothing But Thieves, Fatboy Slim, Craig David, Brainstorm or Israel’s Netta, who also won Eurovision in 2018. Similarly, other Ukrainian artists such as Dakha Brakha, Ruslana, THE HARDKISS, MONATIK or Alyona Alyona, among others, participated with their music.

The various performances alternated with testimonials from public activists, opinion leaders, actors, athletes and unsung heroes who joined the initiative to support Ukraine.

The broadcast lasted 2.5 hours and included the display of a QR code to donate funds to humanitarian aid in Ukraine.

“We are thrilled to have contributed to the broadcast of such an event, as a sign of our support for peace, longing for an early resolution of the conflict and with all respect for the victims of the conflict,” said Josué Reyzábal, CEO of Callao City Lights.
