The Callao Cinemas are celebrating their 100th anniversary, and Telemadrid is paying tribute to them on the program *Disfruta Madrid*, hosted by our CEO, Josué Reyzábal.

A report full of anecdotes and interesting facts about this Art Deco architectural gem, which is part of the history of cinema in Spain.

Nacho Cano, musician, composer and producer, and Josué Reyzábal, CEO of Cines Callao, announced their partnership at a press conference where they presented the show Ibiza Paradise as the first project to emerge from this collaboration, aimed at generating high-impact content and placing Madrid’s Gran Vía at the forefront of Europe in terms of artistic and leisure events.

Created and directed by Nacho Cano, Ibiza Paradise is a party show where the audience can enjoy live music featuring the best international hits of the 70s, 80s and 90s, a daring stage design and the unmistakable atmosphere of the Ibiza spirit. A vibrant proposal that pays tribute to the golden years of the ‘beautiful island’ with a groundbreaking immersive experience aimed at both national and international audiences. The show features a cast of 17 artists, a powerful live band, surprising choreography and immersive projections that immerse the audience in a unique 360º visual experience.

As part of the presentation, held in our iconic Sala 1, journalists were able to attend some of the musical numbers from Ibiza Paradise, which has been running to great acclaim at Cines Callao for the last three months.

The best experiential offering

The presentation of the cover of Rosalía’s new album and everything that the Catalan artist’s presence in the area entailed has once again put the spotlight on the appeal of Plaza del Callao and its screens. The ABC  newspaper has published a report discussing this: ‘The busiest square in Spain and the third busiest in Europe is establishing itself as a global showcase for artists, brands and institutions. Its international and commercial projection coexists with tradition,’ it begins.

It adds: ‘It’s a fact: every artist, musical group, brand or institution dreams of showing off in Callao. Today, the square is a veritable urban showcase where history continues to be written every day, merging its legacy with contemporary creativity. At the MADO 2025 Awards, presented last Thursday as part of the official Madrid Pride programme, we met the winners: the Lambda Valencia Collective, actress Cayetana Guillén Cuervo, artist and activist Samantha Hudson and, in memoriam, Pedro Zerolo.

Created in 2009, these awards aim to recognise and highlight the work of individuals, organisations, groups, activists and institutions – public or private – that have made an outstanding contribution to the advancement, defence and visibility of the rights of LGTBIQ+ people.

MADO Madrid Pride 2025 will be held for 11 days, from 26 June to 6 July, with an extensive programme of events, activities, celebrations and concerts.

Gold and silver for Callao City Lights at the III Edition of the OOH Lovers Awards, organised by the outdoor companies section of FEDE (the Federation of Advertising and Communication Companies).

The campaigns “L’Oréal Paris – LE DÉFILÉ”, by Publicis Connexion by Zenith for L’Oréal Paris, and “Child Safety on the Internet”, by Dentsu Creative and Dentsu for Google, exhibited on our screens, have been recognised in the Special Actions category of the aforementioned awards, the former with a gold medal and the latter with a silver medal.

Fran López Gallego, director of Cines Callao, was one of the guests at the presentation of the XXI International University Short Film Festival AdN which, organised by the Faculty of Communication and Arts of the Nebrija University, will take place on 8th May in our cinemas. A meeting held at the Embassy of Colombia, host country of this edition, in which it was announced that 169 short films from 2028 university students from 7 countries will participate in this year’s edition, which is an absolute record for the longest-running university festival in Spain.

During his speech, the director of Cines Callao highlighted the union of culture and education in a gala that will take place in a ‘unique location’, in a historic building in the centre of Madrid, the Cines Callao, which will celebrate its first centenary next year.

The presentation, chaired by María Andrea Torres, Minister Plenipotentiary of the Embassy of Colombia, was also attended by Natalia Reyes, President of the Festival Jury and President of the Colombian Film Academy; Vania Rojas, Director of Liaison of the Casa de México Foundation, promoter of the Ibero-American AdN Award; Marta Saavedra, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Arts at Nebrija University; Nicolás Grijalba, Director of the Department of Communication at Nebrija University, and Carlos Rodríguez Alarcón, Director of AdN, among other professionals and personalities.

The TV show ‘Enamorados de Madrid’ went to Cines Callao to talk about its history and see in situ the majesty and beauty of our emblematic building which, in 2026, will celebrate its first centenary. One hundred years full of milestones and anecdotes for the history of cinema and the city of Madrid told by Josué Reyzábal, CEO, and Sonia Fuentes, general manager of Cines Callao.
