CALLAO CITY LIGHTS JOINS ‘EARTH HOUR’ 2022

One more year, Callao City Lights joins the ‘Earth Hour’ initiative promoted by WWF. The main buildings in different capitals around the world will be switched off for one hour (from 20.30h to 21.30h) next Saturday 26 March, with the aim of raising awareness among citizens of the importance of caring for the planet. In our case, the exterior screens of the Callao Cinemas building, one of the city’s architectural icons, will go black to support the proposal.

In addition, the screens of Callao City Lights will broadcast a piece in which, under the hashtag #MuevetePorEl Planeta, WWF asks the population to turn off the lights between those hours, in solidarity with nature and in defence of the environment.

As a novelty, this year the initiative includes an invitation to citizens to join a great challenge: to get out of their homes and move around the Planet, doing kilometres by any means, whether running, swimming, cycling or on a scooter. The goal is to go around the world, 40,000 km, to show that it is possible to stop the climate crisis and the loss of biodiversity by joining forces and working as a team. Anyone who wants to join this proposal can do so by registering on the website earthhour.org . The challenge must be completed before 26 March.

The Callao City Lights team has also joined this challenge with a joint proposal of 200 kilometres.
